Parish Missions

Children’s Vision International
A Mission for fun with Faith started in 2001 when Jeanne, who with her
husband Roger founded Children’s Vision in Bogata Columbia, visited
Norway Lake Parish. The following year, the Sunday School was looking
for a mission child to support financially and found Juan Pablo at the
CVII school in Bogata Columbia.
Through our support of Juan, we found the home base for Children’s
Vision in Bangor Wisconsin. In July of 2003, our first group of youth
and adults made a mission trip to volunteer at the site in Bangor. We
were inspired by the faith and dedication of Anne Thicke and her family
as she coordinates, researches, plans, and organizes donations, mission
teams, and finances.
Since that time, seven groups have volunteered at the school house site
in Bangor. We have sorted and packed donations, built a storage shed,
donated pallet racking and installed it, mowed lawns, repaired
equipment, painted and cleaned. Each time we have gone there, we have
come away with a greater gift than we have given. Every person has come
away with a renewed faith in what a small group of people, with faith
and hard work, can accomplish.
The Mission for Fun with Faith started in 2001 continues as more people
are touched by the work accomplished in Bogata. Children’s Vision
International serves 100+ students housed in their resident school.
Their mission branches out to the mountain children of the region who
have no medical attention or opportunities for education. In 2006, a
medical clinic is being established in a separate facility near the
school.
The support of Juan Pablo and CVII is one way that Norway Lake Parish
has opened its heart to the world around us.

Kids against Hunger
Kids against Hunger an international food relief
campaign whose
mission is to provide nutritional food to hungry children here and
around the world. For three consecutive years, the Norway Lake
Parish has hosted a mobile packaging station with over 100 volunteers
helping to package over 40,000 meals each year! For more

The relationship between the Norway Lake Parish and Children's Vision
International started in December, 2003 when our Sunday School sent our
first check to support a child for a year at the school in Bogata,
Columbia. We were given a wonderful little boy named Juan Pablo.
We continued with our Luther League making a Mission for Fun with Faith
in the summer of 2004 to Bangor. Our volunteer trips have continued with
adults and our young people. Mission for Fun with Faith III is being
planned for June, 2007.
Mission teams travel to Bogata throughout the year to volunteer at the
CVII school. Any help is needed from pounding nails to rocking babies to
sleep. We have always wondered, and dreamed what it would be like be a
part of a team going to Bogata; would we be able to meet Juan Pablo,
what could we contribute, and what talents could we share.
Interest has been building in sending a Mission Team to Bogata in 2008
from our Parish. It will take faith and hard work to make this dream
come true, but we believe the Norway Lake Parish can do it.
